Position Summary
This position is responsible for scheduling patient treatments or diagnostic procedures. Activities include pre‑registration; receiving physician orders, insurance verification, verifying or obtaining authorizations and pre‑certifications. May distribute educational materials or provide education to patients and families, if needed.
EducationHigh School Graduate/GED.
Training And ExperienceMust possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills. Be proficient with commonly used office software and computers. Must be able to maintain accurate statistical records, gather data and produce reports.
Preferred QualificationsAdditional related education and/or experience preferred, including but not limited to completion of Medical Terminology course(s).
Skills and abilities
typically attained with 2 years of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital or physician office scheduling setting.
