Job Summary:
- Draws and collects blood samples from all age patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Relies on SOP instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification by a nationally recognized body (ASCP preferred).
- Has knowledge of commonly collecting devices, anatomy concepts, best practice collections, and disinfection procedures.
- Has been deemed competent to work independently.
- Knowledgeable to maintain Worklist & keep up with order timeline, the quick receipt to specimens into the lab system, attesting to the patient identification / tube accuracy & general knowledge of the correct tubes needs plus the order of draw.
- Follows instructions & is self-sufficient once deemed competent, help trains new staff & possesses team-mindedness, is an excellent lab ambassador when outside the lab & very cooperative to nursing staff.
