Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Position Description

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations on the Odessa campus. This position will primarily be responsible for talent acquisition, benefit programs, and performance management while ensuring that HR practices are consistent, compliant, timely, and aligned with HR divisional expectations.

The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented and able to multitask competing priorities simultaneously.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
    - Collaborating with hiring managers to write job postings, sourcing and interviewing candidates, and facilitating new-hire onboarding.
  • Benefits Administration
    - Assisting with the administration of employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and managing paid time off.
  • Performance Management
    - Assisting departments with performance reviews, goal setting and employee training and development as needed.
Required Qualifications

Requires bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and related experience to equal four (4) years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one (1) year of direct experience in HR working in a human resources department within a health care, higher education, or government setting.
  • Experience in talent acquisition and benefits management.
  • Familiar with State and Federal labor laws.
  • Professional human resources certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP.
