Job Description

The Network Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading network systems to ensure seamless and secure operations. This role involves installing hardware, configuring software, and resolving connectivity issues to support the organization’s IT infrastructure.

General Summary

The Network Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading network systems to ensure seamless and secure operations. This role involves installing hardware, configuring software, and resolving connectivity issues to support the organization’s IT infrastructure.

Specific Position Duties
  • Install, configure, and maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Monitor network performance and security, ensuring systems run optimally with minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues, including connectivity, bandwidth, and latency concerns.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, and VPNs.
  • Maintain and manage network documentation, including IP address allocations, network diagrams, and equipment inventory.
  • Collaborate with team members to support software applications, server management, and endpoint devices.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to safeguard data integrity and security.
  • Support end-users with technical issues related to network connectivity and access.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and recommend upgrades or improvements as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in a networking or IT support role.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Flexibility to work after hours or on weekends during network upgrades or outages.
  • Experience in networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting tools like Wireshark or Solar Winds.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with network security best practices.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Network, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
