Primary PurposeThe goal of the Information Systems Student Applications Specialist is to provide quality training and technical support for all student application users, explore new modules and forms, maintain security profiles, and assist the student application team with various responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Receive frequent incoming calls from a variety of people on a broad range of problems.
- Assist users in routine problem resolution by providing technical assistance and/or making appropriate referrals.
- Train district employees to properly implement and manage student information systems applications.
- Create training videos and documentation, including but not limited to the Student Information System for district users and for the Portal for parents.
- Create and maintain online security profiles of Student Information Systems.
- Perform password resets and troubleshoot end‑user login problems, including utilizing the school ERP system.
- Maintain operating procedures, production schedules, and timely repair of equipment.
- Coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance of hardware and output processing equipment by vendor service representatives.
- Identify and report existing or potential problems that may jeopardize the Information Systems function.
- Create letters and forms, and new associated fields in the Student Information System for new processes.
- Update existing processes, forms, workflows and system triggers, including but not limited to the online registration process.
- Test newly developed system changes in the development system in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation in the production system.
- Operate printers in support of departmental and district production.
- Archive online audit trails for Student Information Systems and perform searches as needed.
- Use knowledge of Student Information Systems and campus processes to troubleshoot a wide range of end‑user problems.
- Maintain the student system street directory, which includes updates due to district boundary changes.
- Monitor data entry errors and coordinate efforts with campus staff to improve data quality.
- Perform data entry as required.
- Assist the student applications staff with file management, mail outs, proofing and back‑to‑school packets, and other tasks as needed.
- Answer the department telephone as the backup to the secretary.
- Create and maintain the Information Systems calendar and telephone list.
- Maintain Student Information Services SharePoint.
- Maintain documentation related to job duties.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Education: High School Diploma.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with using Student Information Systems maintenance and form building capabilities.
- Experience with creating and maintaining complex security profiles, both automated and manual.
- Experience with electronic mail and computer software such as spreadsheets, word processors, databases and Windows.
- Experience with high‑speed laser production printers and bursters.
- Ability to train end users in existing and new applications.
- Ability to develop training resources.
- Ability to work with other staff members as part of a team within a production‑oriented information systems environment.
- Ability to work unsupervised and set task priorities.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a technically changing environment.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience utilizing data application systems including but not limited to student demographic data, attendance accounting, grade reporting, scheduling, special programs, PEIMS, discipline, and health services.
- Demonstrates an attitude of quality service when working with district personnel.
- Functions within the policies and administrative procedures of the ECISD.
- Accomplishes tasks in a timely manner.
- Accepts other responsibilities as assigned.
Mental and physical demands include frequent interruptions, maintaining emotional control under stress, repetitive hand motions, prolonged computer use, and occasional irregular hours.
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $55,649 to $77,641 Per Year
