About the Role
The HSE Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental standards of the organization are rigorously maintained and continuously improved. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive HSE programs that comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry best practices. The successful candidate will lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits to proactively identify hazards and mitigate potential risks.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout all levels of the organization. Ultimately, the HSE Manager ensures a safe workplace environment that protects employees, assets, and the community while supporting sustainable business operations.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal and state HSE regulations.
- ISN, KPA, Veriforce
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent certification.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Must be a certified instructor for:
- H2S Clear
- Safeland / PEC Basic Orientation
- Familiarity with environmental permitting and compliance reporting.
- Advanced training in emergency response planning and crisis management.
- Experience working in the United States across multiple states with varying regulatory environments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and reporting to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
- Provide training, coaching, and guidance to employees and management on HSE best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and promote continuous improvement in HSE performance.
The HSE Manager utilizes their expertise in regulatory compliance and risk management daily to develop and enforce safety protocols that minimize workplace hazards. Strong analytical skills are essential for conducting thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses to prevent future occurrences. Effective communication and leadership skills enable the manager to deliver impactful training sessions and foster a proactive safety culture across diverse teams.
Technical knowledge of environmental and occupational health standards supports the management of compliance reporting and environmental stewardship initiatives. Additionally, project management skills are applied to coordinate cross-departmental efforts and ensure timely implementation of HSE programs.
