Senior Project Manager – Odessa, TX
Location:
Odessa, TX 79761.
The Senior Project Manager will lead a project team, act as the primary client contact within their portfolio, manage existing business relationships, provide mentorship, and continually develop strategies to grow project and company success.
Responsibilities Preconstruction / Estimating / Sales- Maintain and enhance contractor relationships and pursue new market opportunities.
- Manage and grow key client relationships in the designated market.
- Apply deep estimating knowledge in drywall/steel stud and metal framing, maintaining bid activity to support portfolio expectations.
- Conduct a full review of contracts with the Project Manager before submitting to Senior Leadership for sign-off.
- Attend pre‑construction meetings to define scope while ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are met.
- Identify potential risks or scope gaps from estimate to award.
- Leverage and review sub‑tier contractors.
- Maintain strong project knowledge and exceed set standards for the portfolio.
- Monitor project execution to ensure procedures follow company SOPs.
- Coordinate with internal teams to provide all necessary information and maintain proactive communication with field leaders.
- Provide advice and direction to the Project Team as needed.
- Forecast manpower needs to leverage resources for current and future projects.
- Participate in project debriefing sessions.
- Engage in strategic planning to ensure project profitability, communicating with the CFO & Executive Team.
- Manage the financials of the project portfolio.
- Review WIP and billing status.
- Oversee financial closeout of projects.
- Participate in the development and execution of Berg’s strategic and business plans.
- Build relationships with employees, management, external partners, and stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement of Berg’s high‑performance culture.
- Provide visionary leadership for new ideas and approaches, encouraging innovation at all levels.
- Develop trust and maintain a collaborative leadership presence with the Project Management team.
- Support recruitment, hiring, and onboarding efforts to build an exceptional regional team.
- Foster a collaborative culture that enhances employee satisfaction, engagement, and results orientation.
- Schedule regular and effective one‑on‑one meetings with all direct reports.
- Coach, mentor, and collaborate with direct reports regularly.
- Set and achieve specific, measurable, and obtainable objectives that support overall growth and profitability.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience as a Project Manager for a minimum of 5 years.
- Strong commercial steel stud construction project management background.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex construction documents (blueprints).
- Basic knowledge of document editing software (Blue Beam, Adobe Acrobat, Plan Grid).
- Estimating experience and software knowledge;
Plexxis is a plus. - Effective communication skills with internal and external clients and customers.
- Ability to read and understand financials.
- Presentation skills for group settings.
- Proficient computer skills; MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Mac iPad.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree and minimum 8+ years of construction field experience or an equivalent mix of education and field experience.
- Direct drywall/steel stud framing industry experience (estimating and project management).
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management.
- Detail‑oriented, deadline/goal‑driven.
- Ability to multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
- Sedentary work: lifting no more than 10–15 pounds, occasional lifting or carrying, with occasional walking and standing.
- Travel: up to 20% primarily in the designated market; regular site visits and client meetings.
