Position Overview

The Maintenance Manager position is responsible for overseeing all installation, repair and upkeep operations of the company’s equipment and facilities. This role develops and maintains high standards for equipment operational excellence for the business line. A major attribute for this role is a proven track record of oil field service equipment maintenance management. The position requires a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems as well as plumbing and other crafts, and is well‑versed in all maintenance processes, procedures, health and safety regulations.

The role may also include departmental reporting and budgeting responsibility within district operations management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance tasks performed on oil field service equipment.
  • Manage the maintenance staff, shop staff, mechanics and technicians who order, service, repair, and maintain parts and equipment on facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain production equipment in accordance with organizational standards and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Establish maintenance procedures, preventive maintenance programs and procedures for all repair and installation activities.
  • Manage leases, contractors and budgets related to facilities, machinery and equipment.
  • Administer training programs for shop staff and field supervisors to ensure proper operations, preventive maintenance, and repair programs and procedures.
  • Carry out regular inspections of the facilities and all equipment to identify and resolve issues and ensure functionality.
  • Monitor equipment inventory for necessary orders, including inventory of spare parts.
  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for the maintenance department.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
  • Update maintenance logs and report daily activities to the Director or Operations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal health and safety policies and federal and state guidelines and safety standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise the maintenance department and provide overall direction, coordination, evaluation and management of staff employees.
  • Administer training programs with updated knowledge on proper operations, preventive maintenance, and repair programs and procedures.
  • Handle interviewing, hiring, and training employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline, address complaints and resolve problems of direct employees.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High School Degree or equivalent required.
  • Higher level education or certifications preferred such as BS/BA in business administration or facility management, or certifications such as Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or vocational school; an equivalent combination of education and experience in oilfield well services and on‑the‑job training is accepted in lieu of education.
  • Minimum five (5) years of proven experience as maintenance manager with significant planning maintenance operations experience and knowledge of oilfield services equipment, parts and machinery.
  • Solid understanding of the technical aspects of mechanical and electrical systems and hydraulics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite:
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and organizational, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities, workflow and reporting on activities.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • May require travel to other company locations.
