Purchasing Manager

Oversees, plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of a purchasing branch consisting of several purchasing and/or support units engaged in the development of specifications and purchase of supplies, equipment, and services. Directs procurement operations throughout the State ensuring procurement activities are efficiently provided and coordinates activities between work units and external organizations. Advises district and division personnel on purchasing procedures and quality of commodities, supplies and/or services.
Work requires contact with other governmental agencies and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
Experience:
5 years of experience in purchasing, which includes 3 years public purchasing. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Must have three (3) years supervisory/managerial experience.
