Job Summary

The Warehouse Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently handling liquid and dry chemical products, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout all warehouse and transfer operations. The role involves loading and unloading trucks, tankers, and railcars; operating forklifts and other industrial equipment; repackaging and labeling materials; and maintaining precise inventory records.

Responsibilities
  • Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars.
  • Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses.
  • Climb up tanks, tankers and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load.
  • Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations.
  • Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages.
  • Product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel.
  • Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs.
  • Record amounts of product received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
  • Pick and stage product for delivery in accordance with specifications on customer orders or other instructions.
  • Operate powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product in the warehouse and maintain daily forklift checklist.
  • Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouse.
  • Lifting and carrying bags, pails, boxes, and pallets varying distances.
  • Stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking within operating areas and warehouses.
  • Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment.
  • Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations ensuring proper labelling, storing, stacking, or palletizing per company and regulatory requirements.
  • Give special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food grade and USP items.
  • Operate electronic scale and process devices.
  • Carefully store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
  • Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage.
  • Rearrange stored materials.
  • Assist in counting of physical inventory.
  • Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible and safe for all visitors and workers.
  • Immediately report and clean up spills.
  • Protect property from theft or damage.
  • Other duties as assigned, including mixing and blending as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or U.S. military experience.
  • Prior experience in working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
  • Ability to obtain Forklift Operator certification or pass the exam and demonstrate safe operation of a forklift.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out detailed instructions in English and write simple correspondence.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure.
  • Ability to learn and operate technology‑based devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, PLCs, and operational technology equipment to carry out normal business operations.
Job Requirements
  • Participate in ongoing safety program including safety meetings and trainings.
  • Must be available to work any days of the week, any assigned 8‑12 hour shift.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Good safety and attendance record.
  • Cooperate with other departments and personnel.
  • Observe, follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must pass an E‑Verify check.
  • Must be capable of attaining a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card for participating MTSA facilities within Brenntag (applicable only to MTSA sites).
Physical Requirements
  • Pass company physical and training requirements, including wearing PPE, which may include a respirator.
  • Perform loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage and movement of material.
  • Utilize tools and equipment as necessary to perform job tasks.
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 95% of the day.
