The company supplies new and used casing and tubing, as well as structural tubing, pipe racks, catwalks, wood sills, and rental tubing strings. Smith Bros Pipe operates a secured 20-acre pipe yard in southeast Midland County (Greenwood Area) that supports extensive inventory management needs.
The facility also offers a full-service tubing inspection operation, including CNC repair services on common tubing and casing threads, and utilizes in-house flatbeds, hot shots, and forklifts/frontloaders to handle customer logistics and deliveries.
The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist is a full-time, on-site role based in Midland, TX. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machinery to perform precision machining on tubing, casing, and related components according to specifications. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting blueprints and work orders, loading and aligning materials, selecting and changing tools, and performing routine machine adjustments to maintain accuracy.
The CNC Machinist conducts quality checks on finished parts, documents measurements, and collaborates with inspection and yard teams to ensure timely and accurate repairs. The role also involves basic machine maintenance, adherence to safety protocols, and continuous communication with supervisors to optimize workflow and minimize downtime.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Machine Operation and Machinery handling in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with Machining and Milling processes, preferably with CNC equipment used for tubing and casing.
- Strong Quality Control skills, including measurement, inspection, and documentation of machined parts to meet specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Understanding of shop math and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Commitment to safety practices, including proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA and company policies.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with yard, inspection, and logistics teams.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in machining or CNC operation is preferred.
- Ability to lift and move materials as required and stand for extended periods in a production environment.
- Previous experience in oilfield, pipe, or metal fabrication operations is a plus.
