Job DetailsOur healthcare organization is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our team. The NNP will provide specialized care for newborns with a wide spectrum of illnesses and prematurity, as well as healthy infants. The successful candidate will be part of a team that offers a high quality of care, support, and education to patients and their families.
The staffing model is shared between neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners at each facility, with 12‑ or 24‑hour shifts for NNPs that are flexibly self‑scheduled.
- Provide direct care to newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), including diagnosing and treating illnesses.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to formulate a plan of care for each patient.
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization procedures as needed.
- Coordinate and conduct parental education and counseling sessions to support the family's understanding of the newborn's condition and care plan.
- Participate in research activities and contribute to the development and implementation of evidence‑based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current trends and developments in neonatal care through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Delivery attendance.
- Day‑to‑day management of NICU and Newborn Nursery patients.
- Participate in multi‑disciplinary rounds to provide collaborative, team‑based care of NICU patients including but not limited to ventilator management, nutrition management, lab review, and meeting with families.
- High‑frequency ventilation (HFOV and HFJV), inhaled nitric oxide, therapeutic hypothermia, pediatric surgery.
- No cardiac surgery, except for PDA; no ECMO.
- Subspecialty support.
- A Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice.
- A minimum years of experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or equivalent experience as a physician in a neonatal setting.
- Excellent clinical skills with the ability to make decisions in high‑stress situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining current knowledge of advancements in neonatal care.
