Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This full‑time position supports the Medical Oncology Department at our Odessa, TX location. It runs Monday‑Friday (8:30 am‑5 pm) with no weekends, call or major holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart.
  • Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
  • Promote inter‑professional collaboration.
  • Serve as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Willing to consider entry, mid, or senior level candidate.
  • Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Working Conditions

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and standing/walking for extensive periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
