SummaryThe Quality Manager builds, implements, and maintains CDM's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring products, processes, suppliers, and field activities consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This is a hands-on role spanning the fabrication floor, supplier audits, engineering design reviews, and field issues with hyperscale customers — less a traditional inspection manager and more a Quality Systems and Operational Excellence leader who can scale quality processes as CDM grows.
The role is the primary quality leader across Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Field Services, and Customer Support, reporting directly to the VP/GM and operating independently from Manufacturing and Supply Chain to preserve objective quality oversight.

Quality Management System (ISO 9001)- Develop, implement, and maintain the QMS; lead ISO 9001 certification and surveillance audits
- Develop quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and forms
- Maintain document control in coordination with Engineering and PDM administration
- Manage the internal audit program, corrective actions, and quality KPI reporting to leadership
Partner with Engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable, inspectable, and supportable.
- Participate in product development and design reviews; support Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Define quality requirements, Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) characteristics, and inspection/test requirements from engineering specs
- Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for quality impact; support failure investigations and root cause analysis
- Key deliverables: inspection and control plans, quality requirements matrix, First Article Inspection (FAI) process, design validation support
Partner with Supply Chain to ensure supplier performance and material quality.
- Establish and manage the Approved Supplier List (ASL); qualify and audit suppliers
- Develop supplier quality requirements and review supplier corrective actions
- Monitor supplier performance metrics; support Purchasing on quality clauses and inspection requirements
- Key deliverables: supplier scorecards, audit reports, corrective actions, quality agreements
Develop and manage receiving inspection processes.
- Create inspection procedures, criteria, sampling plans, and acceptance standards based on engineering specs
- Ensure material certifications are reviewed and retained; maintain inspection records and traceability
- Manage receiving inspection personnel and activities
- Example inspection areas: structural steel, electrical assemblies, cooling equipment, switch gear, UPS systems, BESS equipment, fabricated module structures
Support manufacturing operations while maintaining independent quality oversight.
- Develop in-process inspection programs and quality checkpoints
- Lead the nonconforming material process and chair Material Review Board (MRB) activities
- Manage quality escapes and containment actions; develop workmanship standards and support operator quality training
- Key deliverables: NCR process, MRB process, control plans, manufacturing quality metrics
Develop acceptance processes for completed modules.
- Define final inspection requirements and FAT procedures; review commissioning documentation
- Verify customer acceptance criteria are met and support factory witness testing
- Example areas: electrical systems, cooling systems, integrated module testing, controls systems, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Serve as quality liaison for field issues and customer concerns.
- Lead customer complaint investigations and manage field quality issues
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions; track warranty and reliability trends
- Participate in customer quality reviews and support major project closeouts
- Key deliverables: customer corrective action reports, field failure analysis reports, warranty trend reporting, lessons learned database
- Implement CAPA processes and lead root cause investigations
- Facilitate continuous improvement activities; analyze quality trends and drive defect reduction initiatives
- Preferred methodologies: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, FMEA
- Customer Quality: warranty claims, customer complaints, field failure rate, customer satisfaction
