Store Description

Plans, administers, monitors, and evaluates the day-to-day operations of a small Family Store with a limited staff ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures; processes, displays, and prices donated items to ensure a maximum financial return on the sale of store items; assists customers in a polite and friendly manner; prepares store displays that are attractive, neat, and orderly; rotates and re-stocks store merchandise to ensure quick turnover;

ensures the accountability and security of all store items and funds; serves as a supervisor and/or lead worker to volunteers and/or subordinate store personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares, processes, and maintains various sales records, tax forms and social service vouchers; prepares routine sales reports as directed.
  • Assists with sorting and pricing items and driving the forklift as needed.
  • Acts as back to Truck Driver during vacancies and absences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Knowledge of effective and efficient methods for organizing and maintaining records and ability to perform the same.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of retail store management.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective customer relations.

    Ability to evaluate overall store operations to detect deficiencies and implement appropriate corrective action.
  • Ability to price donated merchandise reasonably and fairly.
  • Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and
  • Three years supervisory experience working in a retail store environment or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certifications
  • Valid State Drivers License
