Location: Permian Basin & Delaware Basin
Schedule: Rotational, 12-hour shifts
Employment Type: Full-Time / Project-Based
Position OverviewAs a Mud Logger / Mud logging Technician with Strata graph, you will be responsible for providing accurate, real-time geological evaluation of the wellbore while drilling. This role involves close communication with client Geologists, Engineers, and Operations teams to deliver high-quality written and verbal reports, maintain logging equipment, and identify geological changes and zones of interest through cuttings, gas, and fluid analysis.
This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, adaptable, and thrive in fast-paced field environments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform continuous on-site geological monitoring of the wellbore
- Collect, describe, and analyze drill cuttings for lithology and hydrocarbon indicators
- Monitor and interpret gas, oil shows, and drilling parameters
- Provide accurate, timely reports to clients multiple times per shift
- Communicate effectively with on-site and off-site personnel
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot mud logging equipment daily
- Document geological changes and identify zones of interest
- Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures on location
- Field-based work on active drilling locations
- Exposed outdoor conditions (heat, cold, wind, dust, etc.)
- On-the-job training and mentorship opportunities

- Ability to work 12-hour shifts in exposed environments for rotations of up to 3 weeks or longer
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
, especially Excel - Experience with mud logging software (e.g., Wellsight, Main Log, or similar systems)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs
, stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of on-site mud logging or wellsite geology experience
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Pre-employment drug screening
- B.S. in Geology or related field
- 3–5 years of experience across multiple basins or formations
- Familiarity with West Texas, New Mexico, and other major U.S. basins
- Strong understanding of drilling operations and data integration
