Field Service Technician - Air Compressor

Description

HOLT Industrial Systems is seeking an experienced Air Compressor Field Service Technician for our Odessa, Texas office. The Field Service Technician performs field support activities, which involve start-up, preventive and corrective maintenance within the assigned territory. The selected candidate will have the air compressor repair experience, knowledge, and skills for effective utilization of related equipment and proven troubleshooting processes and procedures.

Experience with Sullair Air Compressors is required. Must have a valid driver license and a safe driving record. This is not a rotational position. This is a permanent full‑time position, hours are Mon-Fri 7am to 5pm. Some weekends will be required.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:

  • Essential Functions
    • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Performs basic to intermediate repairs and minimal troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision.
    • Performs basic to intermediate troubleshooting and minimal diagnoses of air compressor equipment malfunctions and failures.
    • Removes and installs parts, disassembles and assembles components to CAT specifications.
    • Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments.
    • Prepares and completes all job related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; in addition, accesses databases required to complete job.
    • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
    • Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation.
    • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
    • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order.
    • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
    • Completes assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat rate time and re‑work standards.
    • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
    • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner.
    • Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may be relied upon to act as a mentor to lower level Technicians.
    • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Must have minimum 3 years electrical & mechanical industrial experience.
    • Knowledge of customer equipment operations, able to read and interpret blueprints.
    • Must be able to correctly troubleshoot, repair all components and brands of air compressors including large electrical, centrifugal, oil‑free, reciprocal piston equipment.
    • Must be able to properly use multimeters, amp meters, vibration and infrared meters, megger.
    • Must be able to successfully perform the above while meeting the company and customer’s safety requirements as per OSHA requirements. Oil‑field safety experience a plus.
    • Read and comprehend P&I drawings, /GA drawings, and wiring diagrams.
    • Perform routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, cleaning, and setting controls.
    • Must be able to set up rigging equipment and safely remove and reinstall motors, compressors, and associated components.
    • Must be able to safely use all hand tools and power tools such as drill motors, grinders, band saws, etc.
    • Understanding of high‑pressure drill packages.
    • Help with the manufacturing of skid packages for the oil field.
    • Must have an understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic principles and components.
