The OpportunityLonestar Forklift is looking for a mechanically inclined Field Technician (Heavy Equipment Mechanic) to join our Service team in Odessa, Texas. The Field Technician will report to the Service Manager and will be assigned a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.
As a Field Technician your key responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
- Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
- Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
- Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
- Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies
Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:
- At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry
- Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset
- Relevant Trade Certification is an asset
- Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience an asset
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
- High school diploma
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required
