Journeyman Precision Millwright Overview
Responsible for installing machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in the industrial establishment.
Responsibilities- Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
- Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
- Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools
- Construct foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement and steel
- Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs
- Assemble machines and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures using hand and power tools
- Operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
- Repair and lubricate machines and equipment
- Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved
- Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms using bolts and clamps
- Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains, to crane hook
- Set up, brace and rig hoisting equipments using hand tools and power wrenches
- Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle
- May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment
- May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
- Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- One to three years related experience and/or training
- Welding experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Compute rate, ratio and percent
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy, follow instructions and read blueprints, look at flat drawings or pictures and visualize how they would look as solid objects, work at heights without fear, use logical step-by-step procedures in work plan work and solve problems, make decisions based on measurable information; perform a variety of duties which may change often and operate machinery
