Shop Supervisor
The Shop Supervisor oversees the maintenance and repair operations of Resource Transport’s fleet, coordinating the work of mechanics, ensuring quality, safety and reliability of diesel‑powered trucks and trailers, providing technical expertise, mentoring team members, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead, train, and supervise Fleet Mechanics, fostering a culture of accountability, safety and collaboration.
- Plan, prioritize and schedule maintenance and repair work to minimize equipment downtime.
- Review completed Work Orders to ensure accuracy, proper documentation and Fleetio updates.
- Ensure all maintenance complies with safety regulations (DOT, EPA) and Company standards.
- Maintain clear communication with leadership, team members and vendors.
- Oversee shift changes, Work Order handoffs and daily operational meetings.
- Proven experience in fleet maintenance supervision or heavy equipment repair.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in diesel, heavy equipment or fleet maintenance with strong diagnostic skills using software including Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link (DDDL), J‑Pro, Davie and Bendix ACom.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and fleet management systems (Fleetio experience preferred).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and safety awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Required to wear proper PPE including but not limited to steel‑toed boots, hard hat/bump cap, safety glasses and appropriate gloves when necessary.
- Able to provide own basic mechanic tools.
- Be able to read, write and speak English.
- Able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs and occasionally more with assistance of medical devices.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb for extended periods during the workday.
- Able to work underneath, around and inside heavy equipment in small spaces.
- Able to use hands and fingers for gripping, handling tools, operating diagnostic equipment and performing precise mechanical repairs.
- Able to frequently reach above shoulder level and below the waist.
- Able to safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, jacks, hoists and other shop equipment.
- Able to climb ladders and mount/dismount heavy equipment safely.
- Able to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, grease, noise, vibration and exposure to chemicals or fumes.
- Able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toed boots, hearing protection and respirators when required.
- Able to visually inspect equipment, read gauges and technical manuals and distinguish colors related to wiring and diagnostics.

Schedule:
2 weeks on / 1 week off rotation, 12‑hour shifts.

Non‑exempt.

Manager, Fleet Maintenance.
