Job Summary

The Technician Lead is responsible for diagnosing equipment issues, performing complex mechanical repairs, and leading technical activities within the service shop. This role provides guidance to technicians, assists with troubleshooting, coordinates repair activities, and ensures equipment maintenance and repair work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on equipment, engines, and related systems.
  • Identify and order parts required for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform complex repairs and component replacements.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
  • Complete work orders and service documentation accurately and on time.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to technicians.
  • Assist technicians in resolving repair and diagnostic challenges.
  • Interpret work orders and technical documentation when required.
  • Assign and adjust work assignments based on workload and priorities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to quality and safety standards.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4–10 years of related mechanical repair experience.
  • Technical certification in automotive and/or diesel engine repair.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to use laptop computers and portable diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dependable and able to meet deadlines.
  • Customer-service focused with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and assist team members as needed.
Preferred Skills
  • Basic computer navigation skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a service shop environment.
  • Knowledge of truck, diesel engine, and heavy equipment repair.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior technicians.
