PositionSummary
Assist journeyman pipefitter in planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of construction‑related systems and components in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Essential Job Functions- Read and interpret measuring tools such as tape measure, speed square, framing square.
- Fully understand plant north and drawing coordinates.
- Perform tasks including thread, bevel, and cut pipe.
- Use hand and power tools to fit and install all types of pipe and tubular products; possess working knowledge of pipe and piping systems (butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued, fused joints).
- Assist in installing valves, couplings, fittings; disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe.
- Produce quality work meeting plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with installation crews for material and equipment movement.
- Perform daily safety checks to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Perform tasks in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.
- Take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.
- Apply basic knowledge of construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction.
- Support project with other tasks as directed. Communicate problems, material needs, or hazards to foreman.
- Work different shifts and overtime as required.

- 2–3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or GED Certification (preferred).
- Experience working in one or more construction craft roles as helper or laborer, or a combination of work experience and training, and basic knowledge of the craft assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project‑specific regulations.
- Active participation in daily toolbox meetings when on‑site.
- Set a personal example of safe behavior.
- Proficient in one or more craft areas.
- Compute basic numbers, read scales and use simple fractions.
- Work well under pressure and within timelines.
- Developing knowledge in fabrication, installation or maintenance of construction components and systems; familiarity with state and federal codes. Must have any necessary licenses.
- Follow directions and have all necessary tools on hand (see craft specific Helper Tool List).

- Work up to a 12‑hour shift with hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
- Maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, legs fully. Push, pull, carry objects up to 50 pounds; stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, climb to perform tasks.
- Stamina to perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.
- Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions with moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
- Wear personal protective equipment such as safety‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest.
