Job Description
Job Title: Cable Technician ESP (Electrical Submersible Pump)
Location: Odessa, TX (Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)
Shift: 6am – 6pm | 11 days on / 3 days off
Pay: $20 – $23/hr on W2 (No relocation/per diem)
Role OverviewThe Cable Technician Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) is responsible for building, repairing, and testing ESP cables used in oilfield operations. This role involves hands‑on work with cable splicing, high‑voltage testing, and equipment handling in a safety‑critical environment. The technician will support day‑to‑day shop operations by ensuring cable integrity, completing accurate documentation, and adhering to strict safety standards. This position is ideal for candidates with basic electrical or mechanical aptitude who are comfortable with physical, repetitive work and working in industrial conditions.
Training on high‑voltage safety and ESP systems will be provided.
- Build, repair, and splice ESP cables
- Perform high-voltage testing
- Handle cable spooling and maintenance
- Complete testing and inspection documentation
- Basic electrical troubleshooting
- Mechanical aptitude (automotive/diesel/shop experience is a plus)
- Ability to use MS Word & Excel
- Strong attention to detail and safety mindset
- Good communication skills
- Electrical background
- Forklift experience
- Experience with ESP cable (nice to have, not mandatory)
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Repetitive manual work, standing long hours
- Work in extreme heat and industrial environments
