Fleet Mechanic Summary/OverviewThe Fleet Mechanic is a skilled tradesperson responsible for keeping Plum Gas Solutions’ natural gas and diesel equipment ready for use by inspecting and performing diagnostic testing, and completing preventative maintenance and repairs as needed. Maintains equipment by listening to internal operations team and customer feedback. Must read and understand technical drawings and blueprints to determine project specifications. The Fleet Mechanic may assemble metal structures and components.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Maintains service operations by inspecting and maintaining natural gas (e.g., pressure regulation systems) and diesel equipment
- Responsible for keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and performing diagnostic
- Completes preventative maintenance in alignment with Field Operations Manager’s PM plan
- Reading and understanding technical drawings, operating procedures, and maintenance guides, to comply with management of change requirements
- Working with operations, readies equipment based on certain project specifications
- Fabricating and installing parts as needed for meeting custom requests
- Metal Preparation
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, and smoothing metal using hand tools, power tools, and machines - Fabrication Tasks
- Assembling metal structures and components, often custom-built for specific applications - Equipment Maintenance
- Keeping welding and fabrication tools safe and working condition - Maintaining routine inventory supplies that are used for operating the welding operation and subject to inspection of stocks and ordering fresh stock as and when required
- Maintaining a record of all the work completed to facilitate the accounting activities
- Review work orders and discuss with Team Leader
- Follows check list to ensure all important parts are examined
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Basic mathematics skills
- Basic knowledge of welding symbols and blueprint reading skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
Education and Experience

- 5+ years of experience

- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and climb for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Frequent use of hands and arms to operate tools, equipment, or controls
- Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain, various outdoor surfaces, and occasional obstacles
- Visual and auditory ability to identify potential hazards and operate equipment safely
- May require prolonged periods of driving or operating machinery
- May be exposed to fumes, sparks, and bright light
