Academic Requirements
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or related field, or currently enrolled in an advanced degree program.
Required:
High School Diploma.
If applicant does not have 18hrs of social work on transcript, a Family Services Certificate must be obtained within 6 months of hire. INK will pay for the first certification test. Subsequent tests, if failed, are paid by the applicant.
Work ExperiencePreferred: 1 year of related direct service experience.
SummaryThe Navigator uses sound professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population, especially in crisis situations, while maintaining compliance with established program standards.
Essential Functions- Outreach and recruitment of participants for classes, including efforts to minimize attrition.
- Establishes and maintains a trusting, professional relationship with families through regular personal visits.
- Administers intake, assessments, and screening tools to clients and family members.
- Utilizes intake and assessment results to establish and implement goals, objectives, and activities identified with parents.
- Records all group and individualized services and activities in a concise, timely manner using program forms and informational software/databases.
- Meets with manager/supervisor bi-weekly to evaluate status of families on caseload.
- Obtains and maintains certification in Safe Care curriculum administration.
- Enrolls and partners in serving a maximum of 30 clients and provides sessions per Thriving Texas Families guidelines.
- Provides parent and health education, case management, resource referrals, basic needs support, transportation assistance, and/or other support services to families on caseload.
- Documents all attendance weekly in informational software.
- Attends all required trainings.
- Provides community education on child abuse prevention strategies.
- Develops updates, reminders, and community education information together with Lead Navigator and Outreach & Data Specialist.
- Learn, live, and coach one team, embracing the mission culture and values; lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen, random drug screens, and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
- Provide proof of work‑eligibility status upon request.
- Pass a pre‑employment and biennial criminal background and motor‑vehicle check (fingerprints required if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5years).
- Demonstrate the following abilities:
- Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio‑economic characteristics.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Maintain computer literacy required for the responsibilities of the position.
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team without intensive supervision.
- Travel locally as needed.
- Manage time effectively and efficiently.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Follow all procedures of the INK personnel manual.
- Possess a current and valid driver’s license (United States).
