Job Overview

The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students on scheduled routes to and from a variety of school sites and ensuring the safety of all passengers, including special education students. The driver operates under general supervision, following standard policies and procedures, and maintains the bus in a safe operating condition.

Compensation is set at an hourly rate ranging between $25.00 (0 years experience) and $28.75. The role also offers a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

• Education:
  
  GED or High School Diploma.
• Experience:
  
  Experience operating large passenger vehicles or equivalent training; able to manage student behavior.
• License:
  Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with class P and S endorsements.
• Completed bus driver safety training course.
• Must be over 21 years old.
• Pass alcohol and drug tests.
• DOT Physical Examination required.

Safely transports students by driving the bus according to schedules, transporting students to and from homes, school sites, and field trips.

• Maintain order and discipline, resolve disputes, document and report severe disciplinary cases.
• Conduct daily safety and operational inspections of the vehicle.
• Oversee loading/unloading, release students to authorized individuals, ensure seatbelts fastened.
• Maintain records for mileage, routing, maintenance, time schedules.
• Notify appropriate parties of any delays.
• Ensure credentials (CDL, Medical Card, Region One) are updated per DOT and IDEA policy.

Interpret and follow directions and feedback.

• Communicate openly with campus managers.
• Accept and provide both negative and positive feedback.
• Reflect on performance to improve operations.

Manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.

• Adapt to changing circumstances while performing various tasks.
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously within time constraints.

Work on an open calendar.

• Work evenings, weekends, holidays, as needed.
• Expected to work at least 32 hours per week (excluding extracurricular campus activities).
• Work extended hours when necessary.
