Title:Instructional Media Center (Library) Assistant
Nature of Work:Library assistants aid in the functions of assisting patrons in accessing and retrieving information, circulating materials, organizing and preparing materials for use, preparing facilities for user access, and performing a range of specific clerical duties. Patrons served include high school students, faculty, administration, and staff.
General Responsibilities:- Provide customer service to all patron types and assist them in the information seeking process
- Assist in circulation, management, and storage of all material types and equipment
- Locate inter‑library loan materials and process requests
- Process room and computer lab booking requests
- Assist in annual inventories and withdrawal of materials
- Assume responsibility for student supervision
- Help maintain an attractive and inviting school library media center environment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and related work experience required or related post‑secondary education
- Computer skills required, with knowledge of databases and library automation systems particularly valuable
- Strong reader’s advisory skills preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows required
- Strong customer service skills
- Established and proficient ability to multitask; attention to detail and precision with all tasks; and efficient, accommodating demeanor
9.5 months of employment annually
Salary & Benefits:Salary is $18.25/hour. This position is eligible for medical/dental/vision/health insurance, HSA, EAP service, tuition assistance, and paid‑time off.
Compensation for this position is based on the Agreement between the Board of Education of O’Fallon Township High School District No. 203 and the Paraprofessional Council of the O’Fallon Federation of Teachers, Local 3939. OTHS Para Council CBA
