The Division of Purchasing and General Services is seeking an Office Specialist for the Surplus Property program. If you are a customer oriented, self-motivated, multi-tasker this could be the job for you!
- Process surplus property intake and documents.
- Research specifications and value of property to be sold/auctioned.
- Assign sale prices to property.
- Create and maintain files and records.
- Answer telephone and assist callers.
- Process daily incoming and outgoing mail.
- Order office supplies.
- Take photos of items to be auctioned.
- Post and monitor online auctions.
- Assist the public and others with information on merchandise.
- Prepare final sale of items.
- Retrieve sale items to be purchased or photographed.
- The best qualified candidate for this position will have at least 1 year of experience:
- Providing customer service in an office environment.
- Utilizing office equipment.
- Preparing and processing documents.
The Department of Government Operations provides support to, and enables other state agencies to fulfill their core missions. When state and other governmental agencies can no longer use state-owned property, the property is offered to the public for sale and/or auction. Surplus Property is responsible for the accounting and ethical disposal/sale of these items.
Supplemental Information Working Conditions- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there will be some walking; standing; bending; climbing; lifting/carrying; driving an automobile, etc.
- The employee may be required to climb on top of large vehicles and equipment, up to 10 feet.
- Lifting sale items requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
