Overview
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Teacher's Assistant Early Childhood at the YMCA of Northern Utah maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families.
This position is part time seasonal.
Responsibilities- Supervises the children, classroom, and all program activities. Primarily working with students ages 3-5.
- Follows all procedures and standards as established by the law or the Y; makes ADA accommodations where appropriate; maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records.
- Nurtures children through purposeful programming; creates activities that are aimed at increasing student’s academic, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual well‑being.
- Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth.
- Demonstrates reliability, flexibility, organization skills, and the ability to follow directions and tasks that are assigned.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area, practices good safety habits.
- Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child’s needs and progress; connects families to the Y.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. Willing to attend activities and or trainings that fall on Saturdays or days off.
- Willing to participate in professional development for Early Childhood Education and YMCA Leadership.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check with fingerprinting prior to hire or within 10 days of hire.
- Previous experience working with young children in childcare or developmental setting preferred.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within 60 days of hire.
- State approved Food Handlers permit required within 10 days of hire.
- Child Abuse Prevention training required during onboarding process.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age‑appropriate/developmentally appropriate activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Written and verbal Spanish is a plus.

Posted Salary RangeUSD $13.78 - USD $17.23 /Hr.
