ICT Estimator – Five 9s Communications

  • Analyze architectural and engineering blueprints and project specifications, and prepare detailed material, labor, and time estimates.
  • Use industry‑standard estimating methods, tools and software (e.g., Bluebeam, Accubid, Plan Swift) to develop accurate cost estimates for ICT projects.
  • Prepare itemized lists of quantities and associated costs for labor, equipment and materials, adjusting for varying project conditions such as location, deadlines, and complexity.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end bidding process, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Communicate with internal teams and external subcontractors to gather details, negotiate pricing, and resolve ambiguities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that may affect the project’s overall cost or timeline.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of submitted bids and track their progress through the bid evaluation process.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of ICT materials, equipment and systems, and apply expert knowledge to create competitive estimates.
  • Review and proofread all estimates, ensuring calculations are accurate and no items are overlooked.
  • Develop design‑build estimates and provide cost‑saving recommendations.
  • Follow up on submitted bids, gather customer feedback and document improvements.
  • Visit job sites, both locally and regionally, to gather firsthand information about project environment and site conditions.
  • Attend pre‑bid meetings, bid reviews, and project kickoff meetings to ensure stakeholders have a clear understanding of scope and estimate assumptions.
  • Build and nurture long‑term relationships with customers, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, procurement, operations and project management teams to ensure seamless transitions from estimate to execution.
  • Participate in regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers and subcontractors.
  • Actively seek opportunities to grow and develop within the role, potentially moving into senior estimator or project management positions.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, staying flexible and adaptive to changing project demands.
Qualifications – ICT Estimator
  • 2‑5 years of estimating experience within ICT, construction or low‑voltage industries.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Accubid, Plan Swift) and blueprint reading.
  • Advanced knowledge of ICT systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics and communication infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and codes (NEC, TIA, BICSI) relevant to telecommunications and low‑voltage installations.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and work within a collaborative team.
  • Certifications such as BICSI Technician, RCDD or CPE and experience in vendor and subcontractor management are a plus.

Reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Customer Excellence.

Commercial Access Control Technician – Five 9s Communications
  • Lead and manage commercial access control installations from planning to completion.
  • Install, maintain and repair locking mechanisms, including cylindrical, mortise, rim, unit and interchangeable core locks.
  • Install and program access control devices such as card readers, motion detectors, digital keypads, power supplies, solenoids, relays and wireless transmitters.
  • Cut new or replacement keys; rekey locks and buildings; pick and repair locks when necessary.
  • Maintain key‑code records, key issuance tracking and ensure mechanical security integrity.
  • Conduct site surveys and security evaluations of existing systems.
  • Coordinate with construction managers, foremen and end‑users to ensure timelines and specs are met.
  • Ensure code compliance, proper documentation and customer satisfaction.
  • Troubleshoot and service systems after installation as required.
