Cheney Brothers Construction Inc. is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee commercial construction projects from initial award through final closeout. Operating full-time from our Ogden office, you will be responsible for all aspects of construction administration, project coordination, and quality assurance.

The ideal candidate excels at managing subcontractor relationships, tracking project budgets, and coordinating with a diverse group of stakeholders—including owners, general contractors, architects, vendors, and field superintendents. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities Project Scheduling & Coordination
  • Develop Planning & Timelines: Create, maintain, and update project schedules, including subcontractor sequencing, material lead times, access windows, inspections, and after-hours work.
  • Meeting Facilitation: Schedule and lead project meetings, diligently tracking action items and following up on outstanding tasks.
  • Team Alignment: Coordinate and communicate project objectives, requirements, and expectations clearly to all internal and external team members.
Subcontractor & Procurement Management
  • Bidding & Proposals: Solicit, review, compare, and coordinate subcontractor and vendor proposals. Create requests for proposals (RFIs) and collect comprehensive bids.
  • Contract Review: Evaluate contracts, estimates, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to identify exclusions, discrepancies, risks, and potential change order items.
  • Material Procurement: Order materials and coordinate the procurement of equipment, specialty products, and vendor-furnished items. Track lead times, delivery dates, and material availability.
  • Submittal Management: Oversee material and shop drawing submittals, product data, finish samples, and approvals to ensure all compliance standards are met before installation.
Financial Tracking & Field Administration
  • Budget Oversight: Track project budgets, cost impacts, change order requests, material deposits, subcontractor pricing, and owner/client approvals.
  • Document Control: Stay up-to-date on RFIs, ASIs, drawing revisions, and field changes. Maintain organized project files, documentation, correspondence, photos, and closeout records.
  • Field Support: Partner closely with superintendents, installers, and trades to resolve field conflicts, access issues, installation challenges, and scheduling impacts. Review field procedures to ensure strict quality and safety compliance.
Compliance, Safety & Culture
  • Permitting & Inspections: Coordinate regional permitting, inspection requirements, scheduling, and final closeout documentation.
  • Safety First: Comply with all company safety policies and procedures, reporting any unsafe activities directly to Ownership.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in post-project evaluations to gather internal feedback and identify areas for structural improvement.
Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills Experience Requirements
  • Construction

    Experience:

    4–5 years of active experience in the construction industry (
    Required
    ).
  • Project Management: Minimum of 2 years of project management or coordination experience (
    Required
    ).
  • Industry Focus: Direct experience with commercial construction, retail remodels, millwork, or tenant improvement (TI) work is highly preferred.
  • Field Exposure: Prior field experience is required to effectively understand and resolve technical project challenges.
Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, architectural specifications, finish schedules, and scopes of work.
  • Software Proficiency: Knowledgeable with Google Workspace (G-Suite) and Microsoft Word.
  • Preferred Tools: Hands‑on experience with Procore
    , advanced Microsoft Excel, PDF markup tools (e.g., Bluebeam), and dedicated project management/scheduling software.
