Ensure notes are adequate in content, identifying key points and relevant information.
The Note taking Lead will review student's request for note takers each semester. Coordinate with ASL Interpreting Specialist regarding any Deaf or Hard of Hearing students who have been approved for note taking accommodations. Schedule note takers each semester according to the student's needs and schedule. Make adjustments as needed. Schedule appointments for note takers in student database system. Document appointments and other related notes in student database tracking system.
Contact faculty to inquire about volunteer or peer note takers. Send faculty verbiage for volunteers. Ensure that student volunteers receive their gift card at the end of the semester. Find substitutes if note takers are unable to attend their assigned class. May fill-in for other note takers as needed, depending on availability. Work with note takers for any training needed to ensure consistency of service.
Send note takers follow-up emails every other week, or as often as determined, to see how things are going - assisting with questions or concerns. Follow-up with students who are receiving note taking accommodations every other week, or as often as determined, assist with questions or concerns. Communicate with Accommodation Specialist to discuss/address any questions and/or concerns regarding note taking accommodations.
Disability Services encourages student workers to pursue their education and is flexible with school schedules.
This position may require a note-taker to travel to other satellite campus locations as needed
This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.
Required Qualifications
High school Diploma
Strong English language skills (spoken and written)
Applicants must be dependable, consistently on time, and be able to work with little supervision
Able to travel to other campus locations as needed" and under the
