BSW/MSW Faculty Field Liaison
The Social Work Department at Weber State University in Ogden, UT, seeks applications for a BSW /MSW Faculty Field Liaison. The position will teach Fall/Spring/Summer semesters in an 11-month contract with a 2/2/1 potential teaching schedule, with the first summer without classes, but with meetings with BSW /MSW Field directors to learn the position’s administrative duties. The schedule will vary based on class level (BSW /MSW ) and learning mode of face-to-face, Hybrid (face-to-face/online – MSW ), or distance learning.

- Develop a firm understanding of current CSWE core competencies and practice behaviors, field education policies and procedures, school calendar, field manual, curriculum, and field education goals and objectives.
- Participate in field orientation at the start of the academic semester and facilitate CSWE Core Competency Annual training for field supervisors as needed and in conjunction with the BSW /MSW Field Directors.
- Attend at least two (2) field liaison staff meetings per semester with the BSW /MSW Field Directors.
- Meet individually with students either via Zoom or face-to-face at least twice per semester. Regular feedback between the liaison and the student is expected.
- Maintain ongoing communication, as needed, with the Agency Field Instructor regarding student field experience.
- Coordinate and complete field site visits with students and agency staff a minimum of (2) times per year (fall and spring). Documentation of the site visit will be entered on the student evaluation form on Weber State Field Education Documentation.
- Be available to the agency and the student throughout the academic year, including making additional site visits, as warranted.
- Complete the Evaluation of Agency Form for any agency that is providing a field practicum placement, or for any agency where there are areas of concern noted.
- Monitor and communicate to the Director of Field Education all risk-management issues, including, but not limited to, safety, ethical, and/or legal violations within 24 hours of any incident in the field.
- Develop positive relationships with assigned field agencies and instructors, reflecting understanding and identification with the values, skills, and knowledge base of the profession.
- Review the mid-term evaluation, time logs, student final evaluations, agency affiliate/memorandum of agreements, learning contracts, behavioral expectation meeting forms, and visit with any student or supervisor as often or as needed to resolve any perceived problems arising within the field setting. Complete a Performance Contract with the student and the agency field instructor to document the area of concern and a clear timeline for addressing it.
- Clarify and support field instructors regarding the expectations of CSWE core competencies, practice behaviors, field education objectives, and specific appropriate field experiences/activities.
- Identify and communicate to the Director of Field Education new agencies that may want to have student field education placement as a part of their agency work.
- Participate in the annual appreciation reception for field instructors and students, if possible.
- Notify the field staff and Director of Field Education regarding information changes for students, field instructors, or agencies.
- Master’s degree in social work.
- Individual must have at least 5 years of social work practice experience and a minimum of experience in one of the following: supervision, training, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, DSM, Harm Reduction, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Short‑Term Problem Focused Therapy, and/or Medical Social Work, both understanding these practice paradigms and implementation into practice.
- Understanding of adult learning methodologies and the varied learning styles of students.
- Must complete Weber State hiring process to serve as a faculty field liaison.
- Prior clinical supervisory and/or management experience in agency-based settings is desirable.
