Job Summary
Supervise high‑school aged youth in a structured dormitory setting. Provide mentoring services for Upward Bound Project participants and act as a student supervisor at all evening functions. Facilitate group discussions. Supervise youth on field trips and service projects. Provide dorm supervision during nighttime hours of the resident program. Complete and maintain records and case notes. Problem‑solve and implement corrective action under the supervision of the Project Director.
Requirements- Completion of at least the sophomore year in a post‑secondary institution with a major in a pertinent discipline or evidence of knowledge and/or experience working with at‑risk youth in a residential setting.
- Experience and/or knowledge of the special problems of minority, low‑income, first‑generation, and physically disabled students.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with high‑school students from similar backgrounds.
- BA/BS in the pertinent discipline.
- Graduate of a TRIO program or experience overcoming challenges similar to those of the target population.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Light work; exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs frequently.
- Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than those for sedentary work.
- Visual acuity required for accuracy and thoroughness of work.
