Job Summary

NUHOPE is a suicide awareness community outreach program. The Educator/Instructor is responsible for teaching suicide prevention and mental health trainings in Junior High and High Schools in Weber and Davis Counties. Instructors may also teach sessions in partnership with local health departments.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the program coordinator on schedule availability.
  • Maintain trainings and certifications.
  • Prepare for and give educational training sessions.
  • Provide trainees with appropriate materials.
  • Arrive to each session prepared and on time.
  • Collect and review evaluation forms from each session.
  • Improve trainings based on feedback.
  • Provide the program coordinator with information and data on sessions completed, attendance, and mileage for reimbursement.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings on the first Thursday of each month at 4pm and coalition meetings as assigned.
  • Participate in a pooled position selection process; applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available and the pool will expire after a period when applicants will be notified.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct others
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Power Point
  • Ability to lift 20–30 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field
  • Experience training or teaching health interventions
  • Certification to teach suicide education and prevention programs (e.g., Signs of Suicide, Youth Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, Working Minds, etc.)
