Summary
As our supportive Teacher Assistant
, you will assist teachers and ensure children are gaining the skills and competencies necessary to be prepared to succeed in their present and future environments. This role provides steady, structured, and detailed work, and you will be relied on to assist with the implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate activities of young students daily. As a naturally people-focused individual, it is your strong desire to help others that keeps you motivated in this role.
We are Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP), and we are searching for a Teacher Assistant to implement a comprehensive curriculum that is focused on creating effective experiences for children and their families.
- Unselfish and approachable with a preference for detailed, skill-based work

- High school diploma, GED, or equivalency preferred
- Must be willing to obtain a CDA (child development associate certificate) within 2 years of hire (OWCAP covers the cost of enrollment and course)

- Starting Wage – $15.50 – based on education and experience
- Plan, assist with implementation, and evaluate daily, developmentally appropriate activities
- Provide quality teacher-child interactions and work on building trust relationships with all assigned children.
- Build quality teacher-parent relationships. Involve parents in curriculum planning and classroom volunteering. Provide information and problem-solve to address the needs of families
- Use and embrace families culture, ethnicity, background, and composition
- Use developmentally appropriate behavior guidance and classroom management skills. Work with an interdisciplinary team
- Conduct family-style meal and snack times and ensure compliance with Head Start standards; USDA/CACFP, Child Care Licensing, Caring for our Children National Standards
- Support in the arrangement of the classroom to provide safe, developmentally appropriate use; care for and maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the classroom
- Assess each child’s health status. Care for the health and safety of children as established by the Head Start Standards;
Child Care Licensing, Caring for our Children National Standards - Ensure child safety by never leaving them alone. Follow Active Supervision at all times.
- Support the teacher’s role as leader of the classroom team. Participate as a member of the classroom team. Communicate with team members to ensure the functions of the classroom are met.
