Adjunct Instructor of Spanish DLI Bridge

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of World Languages & Cultures at Weber State University seeks an instructor to co‑teach several sections of the Bridge Program Spanish course at local high schools beginning August of 2025. This course is part of the Utah Dual Language Immersion Bridge Program, in which students who have participated in the dual immersion program since first grade, or who have an equivalent level of proficiency in Spanish, may take an upper‑level university Spanish course in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades.
Under the administrative direction of the program coordinator and department chairperson, the individual shall perform some, or all, of the following duties:
- Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives.
- Prepare instructional materials (course assignments, exams, visual aids, and instruction sheets) as necessary.
- Instruct, manage, and supervise students in classrooms through using appropriate teaching methods.
- Evaluate learning by means of appropriate assessment methods.
- Maintain a student‑oriented approach to education.
- Maintain and submit accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow‑up.
Required Qualifications:
- M.A. in Spanish or a related field.
- An OPI score of Advanced‑High, or proof of OPI /OPIc registration.
- At least two years of experience teaching Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a co‑teaching environment.
- Ability to work effectively with people.
- Ability to travel to high schools.
- Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions.
- Ph.D., or ABD, in Spanish or related field.
- Experience teaching Spanish at the secondary and university levels.
- Training in or knowledge of the ACTFL proficiency guidelines and the National Standards for Teaching Foreign Languages.

Visual Acuity Requirements: color, depth perception and field of vision. Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
