The Botany and Plant Ecology Department at Weber State University anticipates having part-time, adjunct teaching appointments periodically. Adjunct instructors will primarily teach lower division, lecture-only courses such as Plant Biology, Plants and People, and/or Principles of Environmental Science. Applicants with expertise in specific areas, such as Ethnobotany, Phytoremediation, Forensic Botany, etc., are also encouraged to apply and may teach upper division short courses or workshops in their discipline.
This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available; after a period the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.
- Master’s Degree in Botany or a related field to teach lower division Botany courses.
- Bachelor’s Degree and one year of professional experience in a specific discipline for short courses or workshops.
- For lower division courses, a minimum of one semester of teaching experience is required.
- For discipline‑specific short courses or workshops, a minimum of one year of professional work experience in that discipline is required; training/teaching experience is preferred.
- Background check completed.
- Sedentary work; able to sit most of the time and walk/stand only occasionally.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
- Visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, transcribe, and use a computer terminal for extensive reading.
