General Purpose
Supervise children during playground activities and enforce school rules to promote student safety. Apply first aid to minor injury and notify proper school personnel of serious incidents. Requires the ability to react quickly in possibly stressful situations.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Supervise children in the playground.
- Mediate arguments or fights between students.
- Notify supervisor of serious rule infractions or incidents.
- Administer minor first aid.
- Enforce school rules.
- Escort students to and from the playground.
- Distribute playground equipment and manage storage.
- Supervise students and intervene when socially appropriate.
- Assist in teaching social or academic skills.
- Be responsible for children's safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six (6) months of related experience.
- Knowledge and skill in using alphabetical and numerical systems, organizing and maintaining catalog systems, and handling finances.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Occasional light physical exertion including walking, standing, motor vehicle operation, and other light physical activity.
- Occasional moderate physical exertion such as handling medium-weight materials (11-50 pounds), extensive standing, walking, crawling, bending, stooping, or climbing, or assisting special education students.
- Occasional exposure to mildly disagreeable conditions such as noise, ventilation, crowding, outside weather, and pressures from sensitive situations; may involve extended periods of sitting or standing in one position.
- Typical contact with students, parents, teachers, principals, assistant principals, and other staff members.
