Job Summary / Basic FunctionThe Geospatial Teaching Assistant (TA) will serve as instructional apprentice under the guidance and supervision of a faculty member. The specific duties of the TA will depend on the nature of the course/lab to which the TA is assigned and the support needs of the department as a whole. Duties may include assisting with course preparation, instructional support in labs (including guiding students in best practices and safety), leading review sessions and discussions, mentoring independent projects, and assisting with grading.
Required Qualifications- Has completed both GEO 1710/3710 and GEO 3840 and GEOG 2400/4400 (or similar courses) with a B or better grade (Contact Ryan Frazier ryanfrazier to inquire which class is currently seeking a TA). Approval of the course instructor is required.
- Current major in the college of science or college of social behavioral sciences.
- Ability to type, read, and use a computer. One must also be able to be on camera for periods of time to help student inquiry and communicate with students effectively.
- Earth and Environmental Sciences or Geography, Environment and Sustainability majors preferred.
- Previous teaching experience such as tutoring is a plus.
