This position is considered temporary due to being funded, in full or in part, through grant allocations or student enrollment-based funding sources. Continued employment (or the position's hourly workload) is contingent upon the availability of future funding, as determined on yearly basis.

The Title III Lead Aide plays a vital role in supporting English Language Learners and their families. By providing language support services (interpreting and translation) to families and providing instructional support for EL students, the Title III Lead Aide supports the overall success of all Title III students. Additionally, this position supports the special programs in the Student Educational Access Department, including but not limited to program marketing, content development, and communications through the Language Services team.

This position requires a compassionate and empathetic individual who understands and has experience working with diverse communities and has worked as a district-level interpreter.

Reports to:

Director of Student Educational Access and Opportunity

This position requires travel between multiple school sites, and flexibility in work hours due to working events that are outside of normal business hours.

Key Responsibilities

English Language Learners:

  • Plans and provides instruction and learning activities
  • Provides instruction to individuals or small groups of English Language Learner students in a classroom, pull-out, or other learning environment
  • Confers, as needed, with teachers, families, and the administrative team concerning student needs.
  • Informs teacher, families, and the administrative team about any special problems or information concerning students
  • Assists teachers and support staff to develop and evaluate individual and group educational goals and objectives
  • Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned
  • Assures student understanding of content/material being taught; answers student questions; assists students in reviewing assignments and test results
  • Administers WIDA screener and annual WIDA ACCESS testing
  • Performs and documents all federal processes pertaining to EL students
  • Builds home-school relationships
  • Communicates with parents to discuss students' academic progress
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Language Services:
Interpreting and Translating

  • Provide real-time interpretation during spoken conversations, meetings, and conferences, as assigned.
  • Maintain neutrality and confidentiality in all interpreted conversations
  • Clarify and provide cultural context when necessary to enhance communication
  • Translate written documents, such as texts and articles
  • Ensure accurate and contextually appropriate translations while maintaining the original meaning
  • Proofread and edit translations to eliminate errors and improve clarity
  • Adapt content to the cultural nuances of the target audience
  • Attend professional development and trainings, as assigned

Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position

  • Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.

Other Functions

  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
