job description:

under the direction of the student services director, elementary counseling district program facilitator is a member of the student services and student advocacy team. This position is directly involved with support for all students and will be assigned specific schools at an elementary level (grades k-6). The position requires assisting school teams with programming, training and implementation of support for students.

• work with counselors, faculties and administrator supporting students
• advocate on the student’s behalf
• implement and/or supporting effective prevention and intervention strategies within an mtss structure
• assist in collecting data and recording information about the student for the purpose of determining effectiveness of an intervention
• attend student staffing meetings on a regular basis (e.g. Student success team)
• collaborate with school teams and families to assist in writing intervention and support plans
• support elementary school counselors in all areas of school counseling and guidance service to students
• participate in development of annual school data projects
• conduct internal counseling program reviews
• support school teams in the development of 504s
• coordinate and assist with enrollment of youth-in-care students and students returning to school from treatment programs or facilities
• coordinate and assist in the development of reintegration plans
• participate in school-level professional learning communities
• work cooperatively with all members of a student support team, including administration, psychologists, health care professionals, designated instructional service providers, para educators, general education teachers, and parents
• effectively manage time to address the needs of schools through being a visible presence and accessible resource
• build strong professional relationships with parents/guardians, teachers, para educators, and school administrators
• solution-oriented in meeting the needs of students in the best way possible
• participate in a direct service or consultative role in crisis situations and crisis intervention

• relate effectively to and demonstrate receptive attitude toward children, and toward students and parents of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• assist with program development and in-service training related to implementation of a elementary school guidance program
• assist with the development of the elementary school counseling grant
• problem solve referrals and implement due process procedures for student discipline referrals, including manifestation determinations as necessary
• identify and work collaboratively with co-workers to solve problematic issues as they arise
• collaborate with school district and building level personnel to implement child abuse prevention and humantrafficking prevention as designated by state board rule
• develop and facilitate training related to child abuse and humantrafficking for school personnel
• identify and work collaboratively with co-workers to solve problematic issues as they arise
• work as a team member with other student service team members to problem solve in creating positive outcomes and learning for students
• participate in cross-departmental training and collaboration
• network with various social service agencies, such as juvenile justice, dcfs, health dept. And human services, etc..
• have a general understanding of section 504, idea, ferpa, grama, mckinney-vento, residency, guardianship and district policies.
