Job Summary / Basic Function

This is a 9 month position, mid August through May, following WSU’s academic schedule. This is a 40 hours a week full-time position. Assist with all aspects of classroom teaching, planning, following NAEYC accreditation standards, and leading the classroom in the Mentor teacher’s absence. Implement learning experiences for children 1-5 years old. Implement classroom schedules and routines, inside and outside, including lunch, snack and nap/rest time.

Assemble instructional materials as directed by the teacher, lead small and whole groups and 1-on-1 lessons as directed by the teacher. Implement child guidance strategies using the same emphasis & techniques as the teacher. Conduct observations, collect data, maintain records. Correspond and meet with family members under the direction of the teacher. Attend appropriate in-service and professional development opportunities. Routine cleaning of classroom and materials and provide health services as assigned.

Perform duties in accordance with the MSL Children’s School’s policies and procedures and in accordance with the NAEYC Standards, Utah licensing, and Utah State Competencies. Perform additional duties, when needed, as directed by the teacher and/or director. This position reports to the program director and receives guidance from the classroom Mentor teachers.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Early Childhood or related field
  • At least one year experience working with young children
  • Basic computer skills

  • Childcare Background Clearance
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of NAEYC standards, state licensing requirements, and Child Plus Software is preferred.

Salary

The annual salary for this part-time position starts at $30,750 and may go up from there depending on candidate qualifications.

The position comes with sick leave, but no other benefits.
