Job DescriptionQualified candidate will coach and provide instruction on classroom management, instructional strategies, behavioral strategies, alternative standards and special education process and procedures toK-12 complex support needs teachers.
Job duties will include:
Observing classroom instructional practices, providing targeted post-observation feedback, supporting teachers with lesson planning for IEP goals and evaluation, participating in professional learning community meetings, facilitating school- and district-wide professional development, supporting IEP meetings and collaborating with teachers and administrators to evaluate formative assessment practices.
ENTRY LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-5 years of successful teaching experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Hold a current Utah
Special Education Professional License or Associate Educator License (AEL) , as applicable. - Applicants who are not currently licensed must obtain the required AEL
before their employment start date . - Candidates must maintain the appropriate Utah Special Education license throughout employment.
- Relevant teaching, student-support, or special education experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to use educational technology and digital tools effectively in the classroom.
- Employees are required to obtain an
ESL Endorsement within four years of employment . Failure to meet this requirement may affect continued employment.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Comprehensive knowledge of elementary Special Education curriculum and processes
- General knowledge of effective assessment practices and lesson design
- General knowledge of serving special populations of learners
- General knowledge of instructional delivery in functional, academic and behavioral domains
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective organizational and project-management skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer and internet proficiency including a high-degree of aptitude with Microsoft Office, G Suite for Education, and common educational technology systems.

- Proven skills in leadership, relationship management, project management, group facilitation, problem solving, team building, coordinating, communication, and student advocacy.
- Commitment to engage in continuous learning to deepen professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions in organizational change and leadership, project management, and adult learning to improve professional practice.
- Reliability, flexibility, and ability to follow directions as tasks are assigned.
- Capacity to navigate and learn local/state educational policy.
- Capacity to be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when communicating to and interacting with our district’s community of stakeholders.
- Capacity to build relationships with various stakeholders in an effort to develop partnerships and increase student growth and proficiency.
- Capacity to manage time as to maximize personal effectiveness.
- Capacity to assess and evaluate situations/circumstances and develop an action plan for leverage and/or improvement of a situation, relationship, or process.
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize appropriately.
- Capacity to effectively market programs and services to ensure requisite participation.
