The Career Readiness Coach for the Social Sciences serves as the primary career development professional for students pursuing social science majors at Weber State University. This position provides individualized career coaching, develops social science-specific career readiness programming, and builds strategic partnerships with healthcare employers to prepare students for successful transitions into the workforce.
Serving as a liaison between Career Services and the College of Social Sciences and Education, this position collaborates with faculty, academic advisors, alumni, and social science organizations to integrate career readiness throughout the student experience. The Career Development Coach supports students from career exploration through employment by providing coaching, facilitating professional development opportunities, connecting students with experiential learning, and expanding employer partnerships.
This position works collaboratively with Career Services staff and college partners to align career readiness initiatives with workforce needs while supporting Weber State University's commitment to student success, workforce development, and community engagement.
This position requires the ability to work some evenings and weekends to support employer events, career fairs, presenting in classes, students, and University programming.
Required Qualifications- - Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a social-science-related profession (such as psychology, social work, geography, history, anthropology, criminal justice) or other related areas (human resources, business, counseling, education, communication, etc.)
- - Two years professional experience in a social-sciences-related setting, workforce development, career coaching, academic advising, talent acquisition, human resources, or other areas related to the responsibilities above. Demonstrated experience building relationships with employers, social science professionals, faculty, or community partners.
- - Experience providing career coaching or academic advising in higher education, or related higher education experience.
- - Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent software with the ability to quickly learn new applications.
