Job Summary /Basic FunctionThe Master Teacher Will
- Oversee the continuing development of the Project.
- Along with the Project Director supervise the WSU String Music Education majors who teach in the Project, and provide teaching modeling and mentorship to these teachers.
- Model teaching strategies for the student teachers.
- Coordinate, with the student teachers, the final semester concert in December and again in April.
- Provide feedback on lesson plans written and implemented by the student teachers.
- Observe student teachers and provide feedback on teaching effectiveness.
- Work with the Project Director and the student teachers to effectively plan and implement recruiting efforts.
- Approve music choices for the Philharmonic and Ogden Youth Orchestra, which are conducted by the Master Teacher and qualified student conductors.
The Master Teacher must hold a degree in Instrumental Music Education and be a string specialist.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in preparatory programs at University level required. Some experience in Piano playing or teaching. MMus preferred. Violinist, Cellist, Public School Teacher with Music Education Degree.
