Weber State University seeks applicants for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Theatre
,specializing in Acting and Directing, for the Theatre Program inthe School of Performing Arts. We seek a candidate who demonstratesa strong commitment to undergraduate education and the needs of alarge student body in the context of a dual-mission public university.

Current program-widepractices include: theatrical intimacy training; interdisciplinary collaboration; and teaching/implementing sustainability practices in classes, shops, and production work. Responsibilities include teaching courses in Acting and Directingat all levels, general education courses in theatre, and other courses based on special skills or interests. The candidate will direct 1–2 main-stage productions per year and mentor students in performance and directing projects. Additional responsibilities include:

• Contributing to the advancement and growth of the Theatreprogram.
• Assisting in student recruitment.
• Advising in the selection of the production season.
• Serving on department, college, or university committees.
• Maintaining scholarly/creative activity.

The position involves a 12-credit-hour workload per semester(including teaching, mentoring, and directing). The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education, collaboration, and mentorship, and will support a widerange of students. The start date is July 1, 2027
,and classes begin in late August.

Required:

• Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting, Directing, Theatre, or arelated field (degree must be completed by July 1, 2027).
• Evidence of university level teaching experience.
• Professional experience in acting, directing, or related areas.

Preferred:

• Significant professional directing experience.
• Experience teaching advanced acting and directing courses.
• Expertise in an additional subject area related to acting &directing.
• Experience working with a wide variety of traditional andnon-traditional student populations.

The Theatre Program has approximately 150 majors with concentrations in acting/directing, musical theatre,design/tech/management, theatre teaching, and theatre studies.
