You start your day on the shop floor in Ogden, UT, where a critical piece of process equipment is due for a major upgrade. Operations needs uptime, Quality needs compliance, and Safety needs assurance. You coordinate stakeholders, run a quick FEA in ANSYS to validate a design tweak, finalize the spec, and lead the team through installation, testing, and qualification—keeping everything aligned with nuclear-industry standards.

Role overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering, you will provide on-site mechanical engineering leadership for a manufacturing and chemical process facility serving the commercial nuclear power industry. You’ll blend hands-on plant support with rigorous design and project leadership.
How you’ll contribute
Deliver daily technical support to operations and maintenance to sustain safe, reliable production.
Lead the design and implementation of new and modified systems: define processes and equipment, oversee installation/fabrication, manage testing and qualification, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
Diagnose system failures using engineering methods and implement effective resolutions.
Identify and recommend advancements in materials, machinery, manufacturing, and chemical processing to tackle complex problems.
Create methods and standards for materials selection, equipment configuration, and process design.
Perform engineering calculations and Finite Element Analyses (ANSYS or similar) to verify designs.
Head cross-functional capital projects: establish charters, management plans, schedules, WBS, risk plans, and budgets; coordinate across departments to deliver outcomes.
Produce thorough engineering specifications, detailed drawings, and complete design documentation.
What you’ll need
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).5+ years in manufacturing or chemical plant environments.
Proficiency with Autodesk or Solid Works and ANSYS.Working knowledge of ASME codes.
Proven skills in CAD and mechanical design and engineering.
