Position: F-16 Avionics/Flight Manual Technical Writer (Level 3)

Description

Join the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment Team as an F-16 Avionics Technical Writer at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. This position supports the F-16 System Program Office by researching, developing, and integrating technical data and technical order changes related to F-16 aircraft avionics, weapons systems, support equipment, and aircraft system testers for various hardware and software configurations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform research, interpret engineering data and drawings, evaluate field/depot inputs, and verify information from multiple sources to sustain Air Force procedures and Technical Orders related to aircraft modifications such as Flight Manuals, Job Guides, Fault Isolation, General System, General Vehicle, Commodity, and aircraft hardware-software type manuals.
  • Author Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), aircraft and support equipment TOs, flight manuals, and support validation/verification activities. Assist USAF personnel in preparing Air Force Technical Order Forms 82/27/252, incorporate comments into draft TCTOs, and submit forms and redlined manuscripts to Lockheed Martin and contractors for formalization and final delivery.
  • Work independently with general direction to support major programs, apply technical expertise as required, and act as a technical contact on projects. Tasks may include technical order manual manuscript risk reduction events, support for trial vehicle installations, TCTO kit proofing, and participation in process improvements and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external personnel such as U.S. Air Force customer groups, program management, engineering, depot-level maintenance, flight test, flight safety, F-16 aircrew, equipment specialists, flight manual managers, and the Central Technical Order Control Unit.
  • Support teleworking up to 50% of the time; however, relocation to Hill AFB Utah area is required for in-person support of the F-16 SPO.
Qualifications
  • Experience performing checkout and troubleshooting procedures related to military aircraft avionics systems using Technical Order publications.
  • Experience applying TO 00-5-1 and/or Military TO System requirements, guidance, and use of change-related forms.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Desired Skills
  • Actual performance of F-16 flight line avionics troubleshooting, repair, calibration, software upgrades, and parts supportability of specific test equipment.
  • Experience with Military Flight Development and Testing; typically found in pilots certified to fly military aircraft.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective interaction with leadership, customers, and peers in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex requirements and interpret complex engineering drawings and manufacturer specifications.
  • Strong computer skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with CAD software and SGML is a plus.
  • Experience with Epic Editor, Isodraw, Arbor Text Tool Suite, and Quick Silver is also a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in aircraft avionics technical manuals – Job Guides, General Systems, Fault Isolation, Illustrated Parts Breakdowns, Commodity, Support Equipment, and Flight Manual TOs.
Security Clearance

This position requires an active Final Secret Security Clearance and the applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
