Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and oversee geotechnical field investigations including soil borings, test pits, and in‑situ testing
- Perform geotechnical analyses including slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressure, and liquefaction assessment
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, technical memoranda, and engineering recommendations
- Provide geotechnical design support for foundations, retaining walls, earthwork, and pavement systems
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and field technicians
- Perform site visits, construction observation, and respond to field conditions during construction
- Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license — Utah PE license required (or ability to obtain reciprocity within 90 days of hire)
- 5 to 15 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., SLOPE/W, SETTLE3, LPILE, or equivalent)
- Strong technical writing skills with demonstrated experience producing geotechnical reports
- Solid understanding of AASHTO, IBC, and ASTM standards relevant to geotechnical practice
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites within Salt Lake County and surrounding areas
